Sensory Goods CBD FAQ’s
What is CBD?
CBD is short for Cannabidiol. It is one of several molecules found in the cannabis plant, which are known as cannabinoids (a chemical compound found in the cannabis plant). One of the most important qualities of CBD is its lack of psycho-activity compared to other cannabinoids found such as THC. Many CBD products are sourced from industrial hemp (contains less than .3% THC). CBD is known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
What are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are active compounds naturally produced by all cannabis plants. They account for most of the health benefits of cannabis. Cannabinoids found in plants are technically called phytocannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids can mimic neurotransmitters that we call endocannabinoids, which are produced naturally by our bodies.
How does CBD work?
The Cannabis plant carries nearly 60-plus cannabinoids and among those, CBD is one of the few most prominent. Cannabinoids interact with our bodies through a network of neurons called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). This system runs throughout our bodies and carry receptors, which bind to the cannabinoids that help enter the bloodstream when consumed. The chemical interaction of those bonds creates a series of responses in your body. CBD can act as a neurotransmitter to help regulate our bodily systems at a cellular level. CBD has proven to have effects on most of our bodies systems such as the immune, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, digestive systems as well as others.

CBD can carry the same metabolizing properties found in P450, if taken in large doses. Which can temporarily neutralize the effect of other medications. This is the same side effect that counteracts THC. Overall, multiple studies suggest that CBD has minimal side effects and generally is safe for consumption.
